Day Two of the Blitz for the Boobies!

by | Oct 3, 2010 | Uncategorized

So sorry this is late. My best friend had her baby today so I’ve basically been at the hospital since around 7:30 pm last night. I’m exhausted, but that’s probably nothing compared to how she feels. But there’s a new gorgeous baby girl in the world, so all is well!
And woo-hoo, after 2 days of boobie blitzin’ – one of which I wasn’t even around to promote it – I’ve already raised around $235 for my walk! And I have five days and less than $500 to go when everything gets added in! Just to review there are four, count ’em, four ways you can help me!

  1. Donate
  2. Buy T-Shirts
  3. Buy Patterns
  4. Share w/friends!

I meant to take lots of progress pictures on the shawlette, but honestly all I did today was take pictures of the baby. And the mama. And the big brother and the papa and the sister and oh did I mention the baby? But during all that hurry up and wait time I did make some pretty serious progress on the shawlette. More pics of the design process and details tomorrow – I swear – as soon as I catch up on sleep!

And yes, this prize is a little late, but I won’t be drawing for prizes til the end of the week, so you have plenty of time to comment! Today’s prize is to make something that breast cancer warriors sometimes desperately need – a nice soft, warm hat. And the nicest, softest yarn I can think is of course Malabrigo. And I just so happen to have a very nifty hat pattern that uses Malabrigo Worsted – the MacDuff Hat. So today’s prize is one skein of Malabrigo Worsted in Cactus Flower (of course it’s pink!) and one copy of my MacDuff Hat pattern – shown in non-pink colors on my very own man for whom it was designed. Oh and just so you know, my very own man lost his own mother to breast cancer.  So I never met my mother-in-law. Nor did my sons. Just another reason to think pink.

So for today’s prize, I will keep the comments light and fluffy. What’s your favorite shade of pink? Salmon? Fuchsia? Neon Pink? But you gotta comment if you want to be entered to win. Prize drawings will happen at the end of this fund-raising week!

In reality, my favorite shade of pink is just about ANY shade of pink as I am a purely pink persona. Pink is the most pefect color on the planet as far as I’m concerned (except for green – I do likes me some greenage too). But if I had to pick a single favorite shade of pink it’s that pale, creamy shade of pink that you sometimes get on that one perfect rosebud. You know, the shade of pink with just a hint of peach, that’s just the barest blush on that delicate velvety petal and usually means that should you chose to smell that flower, you will be delighted with a complete and total sensory treat.
    Hmmm…that sounded kinda dirty. 😉

Do we really have to pick? Because honestly, I love all shades of pink! I have more pink in my wardrobe than any other color. Seriously!

Hot coral pink. It’s the only shade that suits me and my mum. My mum is severely colourblind and its one of the only shades of red/pink she can actually pick out as different from brown/green. This did lead to an incident where we had a sugar pink kitchen as she thought she was buying a subtle beige colour. After that she was banned from choosing paint colours alone.

Any shade of pink! But some days I have a slight leaning toward fuschia.

I love ALL shades of pink, but I have had my eye on that color of Malabrigo for a long time, Great yarn, great color! I wear a lot of neutrals, so I like to wear my knits as a bright pop of color. Thanks for the chance to win!I’m PurlVerde on Ravelry.

I never thought of myself as a ‘pink’ person but for some reason I’m strangely drawn to the colour. I like hot pinks, magenta pinks, and soft vintage pinks.

When I was a little girl, my mother had a bottle of nail polish that I loved called “Sky Pink”. At 5, I thought this was the stupidest thing in the world; everyone knows the sky is blue. As I got older, I realized that the sky is often a gorgeous pink at sunrise and sunset. And usually, many different shades of pink. Now, “sky pink” (the real sky, not the nail polish) is my favorite pink and it is one of the best things about living in Florida. We have tremendous color variations in the sky, probably because we don’t have any stupid snow clouds!!

If I have to pick, I’m going to say red, because to me, pink is a wannabe red, it’s just not quite good enough. (Yeah, I’m not a fan of pink, LOL).

Pinks depend on my mood. I like a bubblegum pink sometimes, others a dusty rose. Pink is a very specific color for me; I need the tone to match my mood or it ain’t happening.

I like magenta-y pink. I’ve just knit three Argante’s, one of which was in Old Maiden Aunt superwash merino in ‘Ultraviolet’ – a mouthwatering juicy pinky magenta that is just so me.

I love a boobalicious pink. Pretty, soft and glowing with a silvery tone, touched with a little tip of rose. A color of beauty and pride. So velvety upon ones touch.

I love the very softest, palest baby pink. Any pastel will bowl me over, but there is something that is so comfy and ladylike about a pale pink.
(Also, there is a pink I do not like. It is the color pink of my bathroom wall tile. And tub. And floor. And toilet. Seriously, my TOILET is pink.)

It depends on the season but in the summer hot pink, in fall more warm tone brownsy pinks. Pink is such a happy color and makes anyone’s skin just glow and look beautiful.

Pink is an amazing color! So many hues. It has to be the number one color that you can add to any outfit. Just choose the right hue for the color you are wearing.
