The process that is. My design process is NOT organic. It’s just kind of insane. Sometimes I come across something – an element, an idea, a place – and an idea just springs into my head. Sadly, getting the idea to a chart is sometimes quite perilous. For my brain and for the nutrition of the people I am charged with feeding. I’m trying to be frugal, so making sure to always cook a healthy dinner and get all the brain stuff onto needles and yarns… well let’s just say it’s quite the adventure.
This would be a couple of the many swatches I have worked in the evolution of this shawlette, which is to be the third of the Seven Songs. For some reason the yarn is feeling very into diamonds for me. Which is counter-intuitive since the yarn is naturally walnut dyed silk/merino from ilLOOMinated Yarns. The walnut makes for a gorgeous soft brown color, but not so much with the connection to the diamonds. But when the yarn actually has something to say, I have to listen.
It’s still quite busy here at Chez PicnicKnits, what with the house hunting, and the designing, and the oh my goodness is it really only 3 weeks to back to school someone kill me now-ing. Sorry it’s been so quiet around here. But what till you see what’s next.
