MacDuff

Shameless. I used to love that song. The Billy Joel version and the Garth Brooks version. But we aren’t talking about love here folks. We’re talking about shameless self-promotion and shameless pleas for direction. First up, shameless self-promotion. I’ll say it again, if I don’t promote me, who will? The MacDuff Hat. Now for sale!

This snug cable hat comes in two sizes, designed to fit normal heads and really big noggins alike. Malabrigo never disappoints and it cables like a dream.

The pattern is written out and charted, and although the cable looks complex, they are surprisingly easy to work. The cables run all the way to the top of hat and are incorporated into the decreases. A cable needle is listed, but this a really good hat to practice cabling without a cable needle.

Needles: Size 8 (5.0 mm) 16 inch circular, and size 8 dpns (or size to get gauge)

Yarn: Malabrigo Merino Worsted – 120 to 150 yards

Size: Small/Medium and Medium/Large

Gauge: 18 sts and 28 rows to 4 inches in stockinette in the round

And then we follow up with a shameless plea for direction. Today I stuck a fork in two completed designs – the MacDuff hat is up for sale, and the third installment of the sock club is on its way to the clubbers. So I’m having that after project malaise. The let down after the build up. I need to work on something, but I’m trying to avoid casting on for something new. So what should I work on?

My creation

Noro Druid Mittens, February Lady Sweater, Noro Rainbow Swallowtail, Black Bonny, Modern Quilt Wrap, Vintage Velvet, Icarus, or Fancy Silk Stockings? Any suggestions. I feel like I should design something else, but I don’t know what. And my brain hurts. Decide for me.

Ok, hehe you deserve a designing break! I’d go for the mittens and your FLS.. just cause you asked. I’m off to get MacDuff as I just love those cables! Great design! I have Malabrigo and I am not afraid to use it 😉

That hat pattern is gorgeous! I’m working on a quickie hat for my brother for Xmas right now, and well, I’m hoping his head is as huge as I think it is…

I think you should finish your Feb. Lady sweater. The color is so yummy! BUT the finisher in me (you know, the one who’s always nagging me to finish my projects)says to do the project that is furthest along (shut up darn finisher!).

It’s a toss up between the Swallowtail (I’m working on one) or the Icarus… It must be a shawl thing! 🙂
