I did a little retail therapy with my best girls on Saturday while the menfolk went on a deep sea fishing trip. We had a nice girl’s lunch at Chili’s. I bought some clothes in some smaller sizes – which is always exciting. And then of course a few of us hit the local yarn store – A Stitch In Time.

I needed some new pieces for my Hiya interchangeable set – I love the new shorter length. And I needed a long wooden circular for a new project. I also got this fabulous Japanese stitch book. Some of the stitches in Japanese stitch dictionaries are not, shall we say, intuitive. And this handy guide, although still in Japanese, has step by step illustrations to help you work the sometimes complicated stitchwork. Plus the cute little knitting bear on the cover… squee! So… what did you do this weekend?

That book is so cool! If you find yourself in dire need of a translation, I have a friend in San Diego who is Japanese. And she knits, of course.

Japanese knitting books and magazines have really good explanatory illustrations. I find them much easier to understand.
