There is of course the amusing acronym for a Stash Enhancing Xpedition, but we won’t use that here, as we like to keep away the scary people. Yesterday was a girls’ day out. We were tired of the rain, and the bad weather, and the power outages. So we decided to make ourselves feel better with yarn.
Kimber showed up at my house around lunchtime. We headed out to the boondocks to pick up Tricia. We said hello to Gus the evil horse and went on our merry way.
First stop, the Local Needle. This is in Macclenny, FL, not too far away from where I live on the westside (say it with me!) and even closer if you are like Trish and live in the boondocks. I visited that shop back last spring, but she has really expanded since then. Tons more yarn. I’m pretty sure we were there for about 2 hours, oohing and aahing over all the pretties. I could not make up my mind to save my life. I’m in a sock place lately, but she definitely had all sorts of gorgeous yarn.
After we finished being loud in the Local Needle (sorry Joan!) we headed next door for some eats. The door was open, the lights were on, but no one was home. We waited a few minutes and then decided to head back towards Whitehouse and the Barrel of Crack. I got to have bacon (yum!) and all three of us got some good eats. Once our tummies were full, it was back on the road.
The next stop was A Stitch In Time. This is another store that seems to change every time I see it. They have new ownership, and every time I head in there, they have more yummy yarn! Unfortunately someone who will not be named had been there earlier on that day and bought up a pile of the lovely red Silky Wool that I wanted for a sweater. I see a special order in my future. Or a midnight trip to her house to smuggle out yarn in the middle of the night. I wonder if she has dogs. Shoot! I just remember, her man has guns. Bummer.
After all of the yarn buying was done (read: it was too late to head to St. Augustine to try out Fran’s) we headed back to my house. We watched some 27 dresses, we had some ice cream, we watched some Olympics, and there was much knitting. Fortunately my husband is very tolerant of such girls’ nights in, and my boys were more than happy to stay up late and play with their legos so that we didn’t keep them awake. The sacrifices my family makes. Even Rufus was willing to sit and be petted and loved on by the girlies.
Oh, you wanna see some pictures? Of course you do!
Chocolate Claudia Handpaints – Yummy is the right word!
More Noro Silk Garden Sock
Jojoland Melody – Superwash merino and so affordable!
And I also got some cedar blocks for the office/craft room and some more Classic Elite Lush (angora – swoon!). I’m trying to make myself finish this Liesl sweater before I cast on for something new. Wish me luck!
