Well they often come hand in hand don’t they? The Birthday was a success. Today I’ve found out my fall semester is a failure before it even started. Oh well. Everything happens for a reason, yes? I did zero knitting on my MQW yesterday, but I’m basically still on track. I’ve worked 11 of 36 squares – so not quite a third done. 13 days and 25 squares to go. It would be nice to be ahead of the game though. So let’s recap the berfday! We start with the birthday breakfast. Chick-Fil-A naturally!

Next we opened presents. At 7:30 in the morning. I don’t know that he could have lasted until Dad got home, so we did it before Dad went to work.

We had some friends over for lunch and playtime. This is the birthday boy working the camera. Um, well, yeah.

Later when Dad got home, we hit Steak ‘N Shake for dinner (his request) and went to see Space Chimps (also his request). He loved the movie. I did not. There is one very well placed David Bowie reference in the movie but the rest of it was just. not. funny. Oh well. He was happy. Afterwards we came home and had cake and singing “…you look like a monkey, and you smell like one too!” He was not amused.

The candles on the cake burned different colored flames. I can only imagine what toxic fumes we were inhaling for that little piece of magic. But it was a good day, it was his day, and he was happy. Sometimes that is all that matters.
